MATCHES IN PROVINCE [ I-'KO.M HERAT,D CORRESPONDENTS] Whangarei.—The converting of each of the given tries scored aud kicking a penalty g)ti,l was the outstanding performance of Claud Hamilton in the Rugby League fix(nrc at Jubilee Park,' Whangarei, when Newton (Auckland) reserve senior players were defeated by the combined Ilikurangi-Kensing-toii side by 37 points to 3. Except for the last 20 minutes tho game was much more even than tip- scoie would indicate. The weather was ideal and the ground in good order, the attendance being small on account of such a large number visiting Auckland for the final League test game. For the local players, I). Parkes scored two tries, and 10 O'Callaghan, McGregor, McDonald, Longlands and N. Dunn each scored a, try, C. Hamilton converting each try and kicking a penalty goal. For Newton, Evoritt. who had been playing fullback, went up to five-eighths and made a brilliant run from nearly halfway to score a try which was not converted. Juniors: City, s, Kamo, 3.
