OLD SHOPS TO GO

BUILDINGS CONDEMNED CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP Work started yesterday in demolishing* a row of four old shops in W.vndhain Street between the Shakespeare Hotel and Chapel Square. The buildings have been condemned by the Auckland City Council. The property was recently sold by tlie Hook Estate through Neville Newcombe, Limited, to B. J. Ball (N.Z.), iiimited. The new owner, now occupying premises in the Sun Building opposite, does not at present intend to rebuild. The shops now being demolished were erected in the early days of Auckland.
