NORTH SHORE SCOTS
FIRST MONTHLY SOCIAL The first of a series of monthly socials, organised by the newly-formed North Shore Caledonian Society, was held in the Foresters' Hall, Devonport, on Saturday. The hall was hung with streamers to which were attached bows of Scottish plaid, while the supper tables were arranged with wises of heather, thistles and spring flowers. Tho Chief, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, the Mayor of Devonport, was piped into the hall by Alaster D. Davidson. The three chieftains present were Mr. W. Pirie, Mr. W. Harper and Mr. D. Tainsh. Tho Mayoress, Mrs. Meikle, was among those present. A programme included Scottish dances, community singing, songs by Mr. F. Rcid, cornet solos by Mr. W! Harper and solo dancing by Miss Kirker. The ladies' committee comprised: —Mrs. Robert Bruce, Mrs. J Wier, Mrs. Martin, Aliss Gwen Charmen and Miss M. Boyle. Among those present were: —Mrs. W Aiders, Airs. W. Pirie, Mrs. D. Tainsh. Mrs. C.
