WAIKATO UNION'S TOUR
SELECTION OF PLAYERS [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday The following players havo been selected to take part in the Waikato Rugby Union's tour of the southern unions in the North Island, commencing next Thursdayßacks: A. Lissette, D. Buick, K. Reid, A. 11. Griffiths, J. Carroll, J. Dempsey, A. J. Aitken, L. Russell, .T. Cole, and G. Soloman. Forwards: F. Casaidy, J. Tristram, G. Chitty, J. M. Taylor, E. H. Catley, J. Leeson, G. Leeson, J. Sharpe, T. Thompson, .1. G. Wynvard. Two players, I. Lewer and L. Pardington, were not available. Tho team's itinerary is as follows: —July 18. v. Taranaki at New Plymouth; July 22, v. Wanganui at Wanganui; July 25, v. Wairarapa at Carterton; July 30, v. Hawke's Bay at Hastings. THAMES VALLEY UNION SOUTHERN TOUR CANCELLED [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PAEROA, Monday The Thames Valley Rugby Union, at a general meeting at l'aeroa on Saturday ovening, decided to cancel tho proposed tour of the Taranaki and Southern areas this season. Representative fixtures were arranged as follows:—Thames Valley v. Auckland, at Auckland, August 8; v. Waikato, at Morrinsville, September 5; v. King Country, at Te Kuiti, August 22; v Bay of Plenty, at To Aroha, September 12 Juniors v. Auckland, at l'aeroa, August 8. Notification was received from the New Zealand Union that no grant would be made toward the holding of the Roller Mills Shield competition in the Thames Valley this year. After prolonged discussion the Primary Schools' Union representative agreed to stage tho competition, and tho union decided to make further representations to the New Zealand Union for a grant. Tho selection committee has chosen tho following players to represent Thames Valley in its first match:—Fullback, E. Castles-, threequarters, W. Velder, ij. A. Goodwin, E. G. Childs; five-eighths. J. Mann. G. Clotworth V; halfback, H. Robinson; forwards. P. Barbalich, D. Parker, N. Sistersen. L. Carrick, E. Radford, A. Tucker. H. Roto, A. Story, Emergencies: Forwards, E Pulman, C. Hughes, B. Sutherland: backs. IJ. Barnes, R. Swann, C. Billing.
