Mr. ID. Holderness, acting-superinten-dent of the Auckland Harbour Board, returned from Wellington yesterday.
Mr. W. C. Barry, director of the livestock division of the Department of Agriculture, is. at the Station Hotel.
Mr. J. Wood, acting engineer-in-chief of the Public Works Department, left for Wellington by the limited express last evening.
Captain R. C. Hammond, general manager of the Northern Steamship Company, Limited, returned from Wellington by train yesterday morning.
Mr. L. J. Drummond was yesterday admitted by Mr. Justice Callan as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court, on the motion of Mr. R. JNlero dith.
Mr. W. B. Howe, a former president of the United States Navy League, arrived by tho Monterey yesterday on a visit to New Zealand. Ho is at the Hotel Cargen.
Mr. R. H. Nesbitt, of Wellington, Australian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, arrived from the south yesterdav morning, and is at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. S. K. Horzog, Mayor of San Rafael, California, was a round-trip passenger by the Monterey from Los Angeles yesterday. He is accompanied by Mrs. Hcrzog.
Mr. A. Clarke, of Whareora, has been elected by the Whangarei County Council to fill the vacancy on the Whangarei Hospital Board created by the recent death of Mr. Angus Finlayson.
Mr. H. P. Judd, of Hawaiian language and history at the University of Hawaii, arrived by the Monterey yesterday to study the Maori language and customs. He is at the Hotel Cargen.
Mr. A. H. B. Fitshardinge, of the London office of the Bank of New South Wales, passed through Auckland by the Monterey yesterday. He has been appointed manager of the bank's Melbourne branch.
Mr. E. Turnbull, of Melbourne, managing director of Dominion Film Distributors, Limited, was a through passenger by the Monterey from Los Angeles to Sydney yesterday. He has been on a visit to Great Britain.
Mr. E. G.. Bridgens, a delegate from the Auckland Trotting Club to the New Zealand Trotting Conference, and Mr. A. G. Mabee, secretary of the club, returned from Wellington by yesterday morning's limited express.
Mr. A. B. Day, presideni and general manager of the Los Angeles Gas<* and Electric Corporation, was a through passenger by the Monterey, which arrived at Auckland yesterday from Los Angeles. He is accompanied by Mrs Day.
Mr. N. R. Chapman, secretary of the Metropolitan Milk Council,] and Mr. J. Purtell, secretary of the Milk Roundsmen's Union and other unions, returned from Wellington yesterday after attending sittings of the Arbitration Court.
Mr. G. Dillon, general manager for Warner Brothers' First National Films. New Zealand, returned to Auckland In the Monterey from Los Angeles yesterday, after visiting Fiji. He was accompanied by Mrs. Dillon and then daughter. '
Mr. F. S. Reed, advertising manager for the Goodyear Rubber Company, in Sydney, was a through passenger by the Monterey from Los Angeles yesterday, after spending a holiday in tho United States. He is accompanied by Mrs. Reed. Captain T. R. Wilbraham, an officer of the Rifle Brigade, passed through Auckland by the Monterey yesterday en route to Melbourne, where he will take up the position of aide-de-camp to the Governor of Victoria, Lord Huntingfield. Mr. E. B. Glnnvil!?, agricultural instructor at Dargaville, has received notice of his transfer to Whangarei, where he will succeed Mr. G. J. Hamblyn, who has been transferred to Palinerston North. Mr. Glanville will be succeeded by Mr. E. H. Arnold, in*, structor at Ruakura, Hamilton.
