"THE BOHEMIAN GIRL"

ST. JAMES' THEATRE FILM Few comedy teams, if any, have a pricier reputation among film-goers than Laurel and Hardy, the principals of "The Bohemian Girl," a Motro-Gold-wvn-Mnyer production, which is to comnionco a season at St. James' Theatre to-day. Based on Balfe's immortal opera, with all the beautiful music of the original retained both in the musical score and in solo numbers, tho film provides an excellent vehicle for tho two comedians, whoso performance in "Frn Diavolo" gained them such high praiso. The successful blendihg of colourful costuming, tuneful music and buffoonery, which made the story of tho two brigands in "Frn Diavolo" such an outstanding success, is repented to advantage in the present film. Jt is seldom that tho comedian:) have had wider scope than they enjoy in the parts of gipsies entrusted with the care of a little girl who has boon kidnapped from her parents, When their charge- has reached womanhood she is returned to her rightful place in tho world, but in tho meantime many exciting and stmngo situationc arise Laurel and Hardy, however, clown their way through the entirn film with tho most amusing antics and tho audionco is kept in roars of laughter whenever they appear on tho screen. Tho story of Balfe's opora is n famous one, but "Tho Bohemian Girl" is better known for the quality of its music. Such numbers as "I Dreamt 1 Dwelt in Marble Halls" and " The Heart Bowed Down" are heard to advantage in the film, while one new modern number, "Heart of a Gipsy," has been introduced. The film has been a groat box office success elsewhere and it should meet with an enthusiastic reception here.
