MURDER IN NORTH
SHOOTING OF FARMER INVESTIGATION CONTINUES QUESTIONING AND SEARCHING [BY TELEGRAPH —-OWN CORRESPONDENT] IvAITAIA, Thursday No fresh developments occurred today in tho solving of tho murder of Mr. Ernest Soverin Nelson, tho Waihou Valley farmer, 10 days ago. Routine inquiries are the principal mode of investigation. To aid in this and at tho same time to cover a wido area so as not to incur delay, the police have been divided into four sections under the supervision of Inspector T. J. 0 Hara. Tho careful checking of statements made by Maoris is also being undertaken by the detectives. That the crime has proved more baffling to unfold than was at first anticipated is beyond all doubt, but overy effort is being made to solve tho mystery. Some of the detectives did not go to bed until after midnight last night. A number of constables continue to cut rushes and fern in tho hope of finding the missing cartridge. This search has extended to the opposite side of the main north road, near Mr. Nelson's property, but so far efforts havo been fruitless. Detective-Sergeant Walsh was called away from the scene of operations today owing to tho accident which befel his* son at Penrose last evening.
