Mr. N. Jrewby, of the Queensland Insurance Company, Limited, has arrived in Dunedin to take up his duties as manager of the local branch, in succession to Mr. E. L. White, who has been transferred to Auckland as manager.
Mr. Brian Dunmngham, of Ahuroa, North Auckland, who has been on a visit to Canada, the United States Great Britain, and the Continent' Studying international relations and the work of the League of Nations at Geneva, returned to Auckland by th* Wanganella from Sydney yesterday
Mr. W. I. Deavoll, private secretary to the Minister of Education, hag been appointed secretary of the Wellington Education Board in succession to Mr. E. S. Hylton, who is retiring. Mr. Deavoll has been in the Public Service for 30 years and has served with six successive Ministers of Education as private secretary.
Dr. P. C. Carman, a former pupil of the Southland Boys' High School, who later gained the degree of doctor of philosophy at London University, has been appointed lecturer in applied chemistry at Capetown X'niversity. For the past two. years Dr. Carman, who will go to Capetown in August'; has been attached to the explosive branch, near Glasgow, of Imperial Chemical Industries. Limited.
The Rev. A. T. Thompson, of Melbourne, Australian secretary for the British and Foreign Bible Society, arrived by the "Wanganclla from Sydney yesterday on a short visit to New Zealand. He will meet the New Zealand, committee of the society in Wellington, and later will go to Fiji to establish a colportage there for the dissemination of copies of the Scriptures in the Fijian and various Indian languages.
