It being Mrs. Karika's wish to be buried beside her husband in the Euro* pean cemetery, the dirge of the women at the (;ato was tho only Maori tradition embodied in the service. At the graveside the ministers were the Rev. C. W. Chandler and Canon Karaka. The Rev. Hemi Rihimona and Sister Nicholls, of the Methodist Church, were also present. Mr. Chan * ler said that Mrs. Karika had acjueiea the realisation of the ideal , spiritual unity of Maori and pakena.
