SPECTACULAR FIRE

WELLINGTON TIMBER MILL MOTORIST WARNS BRIGADE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday With flames leaping to a height of 40ft., a spectacular fire broke out in the mill of the Scott Timber Company, Limited, on the corner of Cable and Tory Streets to-night. The fire burned out the mill and destroyed or damaged much of the dressed timber. But for the prompt action of a passing motorist, who drove back and warned the Central Fire Station, the fire must have been more serious. As it was, the brigade was able to control the flames just as they were starting to make progress. The cause of the fire could not be discovered to-night, and it is not yet known how much damage was done.
