YEAR'S WORK REVIEWED INCREASING DEMAND NOTED [by TELFGRAPH —OWN correspondent] TAURANGA, Wednesday The progress of the Tauranga Elcc-tric-Power Board's enterprise for the year ended March 31, 1936, was explained in detail in the annual reports presented by tho chairman, secretary and engineer to a meeting of the board. The chairman, Mr. Alien Smith, stated that tho revenue account showed a total of £25,413 and a gross sum of £10,600 carried to net revenue account. This sum was increased by a further £165 from interest on advances to consumers, and a balanco of £219 brougth forward from last year. From the total of £10,985, £5799 was paid in interest on loans, £3IOB for repayment of loans, £BOO to tho compulsory depreciation account, and a sum of £IOOO had been placed to tho general reserve, the balanco being carried forward. The unit sales increased during tho year by approximately 15 per cent. The secretary, Mr. J. 11. Chambers, reported that tho total capital expenditure for the year was £7037, compared with £33 IS for the previous year. The total expenditure to date on capital works was £135.503. There appeared to bo no easing off in tho demand in new works and early arrangements would need to be made fov the uplifting of at least a further £15,000. Tho revenue from sales of current totalled £24,793, an increase of £740 over last year. Tho gross revenue from all sources was £29,505. The cost of power purchased had increased from £7221 to £7571, and this figure was estimated to increase to £BOOO this year.
The engineer, Mr. J. R. Bongard, reported that the total connected load at March 31, 19.'36, was 5758 kilowatts. New services totalled 194 and alterations to services 28.
