FAREWELL GATHERINGS

A farewell social organised by the parishioners of the Church of the Assumption, Onehunga, was tendered in St. Mary's Hall to Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Knaggs, who are removing to another parish. On behalf of the congregation, Monsignor Cahill expressed regret at the departure of Mr. and Mrs. Knaggs and presented them each with a fireside chair. Mr. P. Henehan, representing the members of the Holy Name Society, referred to the valuable services rendered by the departing guests. A largely-attended function was recently held in the Otorohanga Town Hall to farewell Nurse Nelson. The gathering was arranged by the executive of the Otorohanga branch of the Plunket Society, and in the absence of the president, Mrs. It. F. Park. Mrs. Arthur Fleming presided. Various speakers made reference to the work done by Nurse Nelson as Plunket nurse in the northern King Country and particularly in the Otorohanga district. The nurse was presented with a reading lamp and a cheque. Nurse Nelson has now retired, and will in future reside in Christehurch.
