SKELETON UNEARTHED

DISCOVERY BY ROADMEN When roadmen employed by the Waneanui County Council were recently engaged in removing a portion of road 'near Sparrow Cliff they located the skeleton of what is believed to be a member of an old military unit. The skeleton, which was complete with the exception of the skull, was about four feet beneath the metal of the road. In the vicinity was a bottle with a queer-shaped neck, unlike any bottles in use to-day. The rusty handle of what is believed to be an old type of watering bucket and a heavilyconstructed stirrup were also found near the skeleton.
