CHURCH DESTROYED
FIRE IN CANTERBURY [BY TELEGRAPTI —rRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH. Sunday Damage estimated at £IOOO wM caused by a fire in the Church of t e Holy Angels, Darfielcl, late on Saturday night. The church, which was more than 50 years old, was completely destroyed, in spite of t e efforts of volunteer fire-fighters.* Father M. J. McMonagle, _th.j priest in charge, said that everything order when he visited the church a about 8.30 p.m. About an hoir later lie saiv the church in flames, -he nre quickly gained a strong hold on tie dry timber. He summoned the assistance of people who had been at t e Darfield picture show, but the churc was soon destroyed, and with 1 valuable vestments, furnishings 311 statues. i
