NEW ZEALAND TEAM MATCH AT HONGKONG LOCAL SIDE DEFEATED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright HONGKONG. Jan. 1(5 The New Zealand Universities Rugby team, en route to Japan, to-day defeated Hongkong by 29 points to 8. The visiting team consisted of Rush, Jones, Fookes, Watt, Gillies, Parsons, McAuliffe, Laney, Burke, Thomas, Drake, Hudson, Chapman, Chcsterman and Rtace. Tries were scored by Parsons (2), .loues, Gillies and Burke. (Jillies potted a goal and Bush converted all the tries.

The backs showed patches of brilliancy. The forwards were overshadowed in the line-outs, but hold their own in the scrums. The performance was creditable considering the rough trip the team had encountered from Manila and that they had landed only a few hours before play was begun. The Governor was present and was introduced to the members of the team. The splendid hospitality extended by the New Zealand and Australian Association and ihe people generally is deeply appreciated by the team. To-day's display is considered promising for a successful tour of Japan.

All-Japan Universities,

at Meiji Shrine Stadium. February 11—v. All West Japan Universities, at Hanazono (Osaka). February 13 —v. All-Japan Universities,

at Hanazono. February 17—Depart from Kobe by Kitano Maru. The personnel of the team which left Auckland on December 2*l is: Backs. —McAuliffe (Canterbury), Rao (Victoria).
