GOLD IN THE KING COUNTRY Considerable interest was taken half a century ago in the organising of parties of gold prospectors +'or the King Country. Following is an item on tho subject that appeared in the New Zealand Herald of January IS, IS86: "Our Kihikihi correspondent writes that 12 prospectors from Thames arrived at Otorohanga on the loth. Mr. Wilkinson and Mr. Ormsby had a meeting with the natives in connection with final arrangements, proceedings being rather stormy. Grounds have been assigned and parties will leave for their destinations to-day."
