THE NEWEST HANGERS

COMPLETE WITH SACHETS An ordinary wooden roat hanger has a linen case which protects the shoulders of the garment, is very simple to make, and can look really dainty and original hy the use of coloured binding and a few gay little lavender bags, which should tone with the cover. First, gauge the shape and size of the cover by placing the hanger flat upon a piece of paper and then pencilling round the top curve. Remove the shoulder and cut a pattern out of the paper, following the curve of the wooden shoulder and cutting straight down the sides and across the bottom. Make it about six inches deep and allow an extra half-inch all round for turnings. lyriVM I

Place the pattern upon the material and cut out two pieces, one for the back and one for the front of the case. Then lay the binding into position as it is in the illustration, using three different shades, and sew it on. Make the other side the same, then place the right sides together, and join up the cover, leaving an opening for the hook. Hem the bottom edge and neaten the opening, turn to the right side and press. Make three little bags as in diagram and fill them with lavender, then sew them to the three extending lengths of binding. Only attach three bags to the cover; do not extend the binding on the back of it but only on the front.
