CYCLE WITHOUT LIGHT

HIT BY CONSTABLE'S CAR CONVICTION AGAINST RIDER An unlighted bicycle, which was being ridden by Thomas Smith, on the GreatSouth Road at 8.45 p.m. on December 29, was run down by a car driven by Constable Wilks. In prosecuting Smith in the Papakura Court yesterday, the constable said the bicycle suddenly appeared in front of his car as he was turning into a side street, and he had no chance of avoiding it. Smith was not injured, but the machine was practically ruined. Sunset that evening was at 7.44 p.m.

The magistrate, Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., convicted ami discharged defendant.
