SUMMER SCHOOL

AUCKLAND MUSICIANS LECTURES BY DR. BAINTON Arrangements have been made for a course of lectures, with pianoforte illustrations, to be given by Dr. Edgar L. Bainton, the noted English musician, pianist, composer and conductor, at the summer school of the Auckland Society of Musicians, which will be held at Auckland University College on January 27, 28 and 30. Dr. Bainton was recently appointed director of the State Conservator!um of Music in Sydney. His lectures will, in general terms, cover the principles and practice of pianoforte teaching and technique, modern methods of instruction, composition, and the elements of conducting, choral and orchestral. There will be one lecture in the morning and afternoon of each day. Registered teachers will be admitted without payment. The arrangements for the lectures are fn the hands of the Auckland Society of Musicians. The secretary is Miss Ethel Hammond, of Esplanade Road, Mount Eden.
