CASE OF HAUPTMANN ACTION BY GOVERNOR NEW YORK. Jan. 1G The Governor of New Jersey, Mr. H. G. Hoffman, Bruno Hauptmann a reprieve which will stay his execution for 60 days. The law permits no more than 90 days' reprieve, but Mr. Hoffman still hopes either for a confession by Hauptmann or for the discovery of new evidence.
January 17 was the date fixed for the execution of Hauptmann on the chargo of murdering the Lindbergh baby.
