METHODIST CHURCH

THE ONEHUNGA CIRCUIT SABBATH OBSERVANCE Concern at the number of permits issued by the Onehunga Borough Council, allowing sports and other activities on its reserves on Sundays, was expressed at the quarterly meeting of the Onehunga, circuit of the Methodist Church. It was decided to urge the council to "do what lies in its power to maintain the quiet and rest of the Sabbath, in the interests of the health and moral well-being of the town." The resignation, through ill-health, of the senior circuit steward, Mr. C. E. Goode, was received with regret, Mr. J. Crooks being appointed to the position. Mr. A. J. Pople was elected to represent the circuit at the Methodist Conference at Christcliurch next month. At the quarterly meeting of the Auckland East circuit, Messrs. A. Williams, R. J. Adlington and T. Clark were appointed its representatives at the conference.
