HORSE ELECTROCUTED

WIRE BROKEN IN STORM OWNER'S CLAIM FOR VALUE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday Tho death of a horse owned by Mr. J. Calvert, of Fairfield, by electrocution, was reported to the Central Waikato Electric-Power Board to-day. Mr. J. R. Ellis, engineer, advised the board that the horse was killed by a broken service lino in Clarkin's lload. The line was a triple-braidecl covered wire, which, 011 coming down during a storm, fell across a fence without blowing the fuse. The horse in the paddock came into contact with either tho service wire or tho fence, which would be alive, and was electrocuted. Tho service line had been up for 14 years. Mr. Calvert wrote to tho board claiming £ls, tho value of the horse. Members considered that the horse was worth tho money asked for it. The claim was referred to the board's insurers.
