When play was commenced this morning the South African side, with only three wickets in hand, required 75 runs to avert an innings defeat.

Morkel used the "long handle" to advantage, taking IS runs, including four fours, off one over from O'Brien. Morkel altogether scored six fours. The last-wicket partnership added 55 in little over half an hour, but tho total score was only 128. Jan. 15 The final three days' test match between tho Maoriland cricketers and Fiji was continued to-day. In reply to tho Maoriland team's first innings score of 234, Fiji compiled 149 (Prince Cakobau 22, Viliaminaceva 23, Wendt 34, Forster 19, not out). Massey bowled unchanged in taking eight wickets for 60 runs.

The Maoriland team also made 149 in its second innings (Vipond 26, Massey 38). Prince Cakobau took three wickets for 26, Turaga three for 40 and Rennie two for 21.

When stumps were drawn Fiji had made 19 for no wickets in the second innings.
