KING'S KNIGHT SCORES SUCCESS OF DILFASHION MEADOW KING'S VICTORY It was with a good finishing effort that King's Knight won tho Summer Ala men Handicap to return double figures on the straight-out machine. \\ or thy Boy and Hori Bingen wore the eaily pacemakers and thoy were joined at the top by Aerial Bell, who led into the straight from Hori Bingen, Stargum, Worthy Boy, King's Knight and Home Brew. Just aft or they straightened np it appeared as if Aerial Bell would score, but King's Knight came homo strongly to win going; away by three-parts ol a, length from Aerial Bell, who defeated Stargum by hall'-n-length. Lynworthy, after a slow beginning, came from a good way back to get fourth, ahead of Worthy Boy, who tired only near tho end, Home Brew, Hori Bingen and Frank Best. King's Knight has not had a great deal of racing, but ho is a resolute pacer, who displays marked promise. Gipsy Light, Hinewaa and Worthy Nor all made mistakes early and were never dangerous. A Spectacular Finish A spectacular finish in tho Farmers' Handicap saw the each-way favourite Kuini just get up 'to win from Dilfashion, who broke almost on the post. Dillashion began well to be soon clear of Autumn Lou and Captain Bolt. Four furlongs from homo Dilfashion was a good six lengths out from Autumn. Lou, Captain Bolt, Young Rodney and Kuinij who had moved up fast. Entering the straight Dilfashion was still clear, but Autumn Lou, Captain Bolt and Kuini challenged, the last-named running on strongly on the outside to defeat Dilfashion by a neck. Captain Bolt was half-a-length away third and Autumn Lou was almost in line fourth, with Young Rodney and Mountain Sun next. The placed horses all trotted well, but Mountain Sun and Zealous were unsteady, the latter pacing most of the way. Audo Patch was never dangerous, although he broke when moving iy> nearing the home turn. The win favourite Bonny Azure was successful in tho Cambridge Summer Handicap, although she was being urged at the finish, to score from Gold Dredge, after going eight and threefifths seconds better than her handicap. Silver Watch failed to settle down early and was soon pulled up. Parrish Belle was quickly in the lead from Bonnie Direct, and thoy were closely attended after going a couple of furlongs by Bonny Azure. Passing the stands Bonny Azure was up on the outside of Parrish Belle, who was carrying her out, with Bonnie Direct right up on the rails, and an interval of 10 lengths to ' Gumdigger, with Gold Dredge well back after tangling slightly near the _ milo and Passing the mile jiost Bonny Azure assumed the lead and Parrish Belle lost her position by breaking. Bonny Azure was aftenvards always going like a winner, although she had to withstand a very determined challenge from Gold Dredge at the finish. Bonnie Direct was two lengths away third and Gumdigger was 20 lengths away fourth, with Parrish Belle and Our Peter well beaten. Bonny Azure registered a sound performance and so did Gold Dredge, who made a very determined effort over tho last half-mile. Proletarian Scores Tho moderately-fancied Proletarian won at a good price in the Pukerimu Handicap from Our McKinney, who made a fine return for a place. Silk Cord and Proletarian were quickly prominent from King's Guide, Aerial Boy and Red Frontier. With half a mile to go Silk Cord and Proletarian were together in the lead from King's Guide, who broke, with Rayon d'Or and Our McKinney moving up fast. Proletarian was in command entering the straight and stayed on to win by three-parts of a length from Our McKinney, who finished strongly on the inside. He may have been a trifle closer if he had gone on the outside, as Proletarian bored in when tiring at the finish. Rayon d'Or, in spite of the fact that ho did not appear to be entirely suited by the track, was a close third,-and Winaway finished fast to get fourth ahead of Silk Cord, Red Hope and Aerial Boy. Proletarian went 10 2-5 seconds better than handicapped to do.

The South Islander Dilfashion won tho Fencourt Handicap, starting fourth favourite and returning a good price. The only one who ever got near enough to trouble him was Captain Bolt, who may have won only for making a short break when challenging strongly in the straight. Kuini and Audo Patch both trotted good races without appearing really dangerous. Alton Bells broke up badly early and Autumn Lou was never dangerous.

Second For Blandford Penalised 12 yards fpr her victory in the Summer Handicap, Bonny Azure was again successful in the Te Aroha Handicap, for which she was a good favourite each way. Blandford went out fast and attempted to win throughout, but Bonny Azure was just behind him entering the straight and easily outsprinted him in the run home. Silver Watch, who did not go smoothly, was a poor third and Gold Dredge, after a bad break early, was fourth. r3onny Azure proved too good, but Blandford was responsible for a very creditable performance. Social Pest was prominent for about a mile, but looked above himself and retired after making a break before reaching the home turn. The others performed moderately. The converted trotter Meadow King scored his first success as a pacer in the Recovery Handicap, for which Toll Gate and Meadow King wero best supported. Home Brew began smartly and was soon clear of Hinewaa, who was inclined to skip, and Superfine. Bofore going four furlongs Hinewaa was in command and she was still in front entering the straight from Meadow King, who had moved up quickly, Toll Gate and Activity. Meadow King finished on strongly to win by half a length from Hinewaa, who defeated Toll Gate by three-parts of a length. Home Brew was fourth, followed by Superfine and Activity. Meulow King registered a smart performance and Hinewaa displayed marked improvement to return nearly half a eentury for a place. Stubbs, driver of Autumn Lou, protested against Captain Bolt for interference, but the complaint was dismissed.
