MIDGET CARS IN AUSTRALIA
An ambitious programme for midget car racing in Western Australia is now being organised by Mr. J. Kelly, states Australian Cycling and Motor-Cycling. The speedway Royal, at Perth, will be used—the season opening on November 9—and tracks will also bo opened at Kalgoorlie and Bun bury. Negotiations have been opened with the Sydney drivers, C. Spurgoon ami E. Poole.
In a recent letter Mr. Kelly states that midget car racing has caught tho
imagination of the "Golden West." There are over ton carc hj» ing built in Perth; even George Mason, tho exhibition rider, is well on his way to completion of a fast model. Midget car racing was introduced to Sydney this month, and events are to he decided on two tracks this season. W. Thompson, the crack car driver, and W. Balgarnie, tho Australian representative in the 1934 T.T. races at the Isle of Man, staged tho first meet>ing on tho Wentworth Speedway, and G. Beavis, L. Gough and several other cracks competed. F. Arthur and B. Prior intend to combine midget car and dirt-track motor-cycle racing at the Empire track..
