MODERN EVERYMAN
THE LATEST EDITIONS A fresh batch of the modern copyright volumes now being added to Everyman's Library (J. M. Dent and Sons) has just been published and serves to confirm the high expectation raised by the appearance of the first series. Standing at the head of the new titles is Thomas Caldwell's " Golden Book of Modern English Poetry," a pioneer among modern anthologies, which has been brought up-to-date for this edition by Mr. Philip Henderson. Its availability in this handy form is welcome. The same applies to "Lord Jim," one of the best loved of Joseph Conrad's works. A happy selection, designed for young people, is Miss Florence Converse's "House of Prayer," the story of a little boy's picturesque " tour " through the teaching and life of the Church. A completely mature excursion into theology is offered by the late Bishop Gore's "Philosophy of the Good Life." a brilliant ethical study on evolutionary lines. Finally, the Modern Everyman selects as its first volume on science, "The Nature of the Physical World." Altogether a rich quintette!
