300 MILES DASH FOR HELP
Details of a vessel's 300-miles clash to obtain medical aid wcro revealed when the steam truwler, Ethel Taylor, belonging to Fleetwood, Lancashire, arrived in port; recently. The Ethel Taylor, in charge of Skipper R. King, left Fleetwood on August 23 and steamed out into the Atlantic to the lonely Rockall fishing grounds. Fish livers were being boiled on board ship when the boiler exploded, and Frank Earl, a deckhand, of Shakespeare .Road, who was standing n6ar, received ncakls all over his body. Other fishermen rushed'''to his help, but he was so seriously injured that the skipper decided to abandon operations and make for Killvbegs, Irish Free State, for medical aid. Another member of the crew, Frank Deegan, fireman, was also taken ill with severe internal pains. On arrival at Killybegs, Eurl was sent to hospital immediately, while the doctor decided to detain Deegf n ashore.
