PENWOMEN'S LEAGUE

j At a meeting of the Penwomen's League yesterday afternoon an address upon the development and history of tho British Parliamentary system was given by Mr. W. P. Endean, MVP. Government by a King and Parliament, lie said, was a British method, and the British Parliament was called the Mother of Parliaments because other peoples had copied it. The British people had felt that there was more freedom under this system of government than under any other, because they had a voice in its actions.

The origin of some of the ceremonial practices so faithfully adhered to in Parliamentary life were described by the speaker. Mr. Fndean asked his hearers had they pictured what would happen if Parliament were ever done away with. He said its loss in countries in which it had ceased to exist had meant loss of liberty and loss of many things, which as a race the British greatly prized. The privilege of voting was a responsibility which should be exercised with eare.
