The judges were Messrs. K. G. M. Kelly and H. -J. Pic;.iott. and the referee Mr. R. Hughes. The boxing was of a high order, The following cups were awarded :—Heavyweight championship, K. Rika; most scientific boxer, J. Hoiking; bantam-weight. D. Fail ley; welter-weight, B. Rogers. The following are the results of the. fi-nnls:— Fly-weight.—E. Fairley beat P. Brown on points. Feather-weight: L. Gibson beat T. Ashcroft on points. Bantam-weight: D. Fairley beat M. Hore on a knock-out in the first round. Welter-weight: B. Rogers defeated D. Coote on points. Heavy-weight: K. Rika defeated J. Hoskmg. last year's champion, on points. At the conclusion of the tournament Mr. A. R. Ryder, principal of the school, expressed thanks to the Whangarei Boxing Association for its assistance and in giving the school the use of the riug. He also thanked the sportsmen of the town, who had donated £ls, which meant so much to the school and enabled a considerable amount of gear to be purchased, and others who had given trophies.
