SUPERFINE CREAM

Sir.—ln a desire to help "Ike the Farmer" to obtain superfine cream, a few hints that 1 have not seen mentioned may be effective. Any cow with a hard quarter caused by a chill or bruise should be noticed when washing the udder, and that quarter milked by hand and if the milk is doubtful throw it out. Scrub cream can and lid with boiling water and a little caustic soda, and rinse with boiling water only. We use a cooler, and like "Ike" did everything we could think of, but did not get all superfine until we got a plunger and plunged well at night and again in the morning just before sending, thus releasing gases and feed flavour. In the summer we keep the night skimming in a clean, cool place. Ox AWE.
