LICENSEE CHARGED
DECISION RESERVED Charges of selling liquor after hours, and opening for the sale of liquor after hours, were preferred against Joseph Patrick Hall, licensee of the Albion Hotel, in the Police Court yesterday. Mr. I l '. K. Hunt, S.M., was on the Bench, defendant being represented by Mr. Singer. Constable Waters said he was en duty in Welleslev Street at 12.10 a.m. on October (i, when ho saw two men come out of the Albion Hotel. They were carrying parcels, containing 20 bottles of beer. When interviewed, defendant said lie had tio knowledge of the men being in the hotel that night, although he thought they were on the premises between five and six o'clock. The men ran away when witness went to a telephone. Mr. Singer submitted that there was nothing which could justify a finding by the magistrate that the liquor had not been supplied to them by a boarder at the hotel. There was a large number of people, including naval men, staying at «the premises, where there was ample opportunity for storing liquor without the licensee's knowledge. The magistrate reserved his decision.
