HOSPITAL BUS
SERVICE AT HAMILTON TRIP FROM FRANKTON OPPOSED [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Friday There was considerable opposition to an application made at a meeting of the No 2 Licensing Authority to-day bv William Dunn, of Hamilton, who sought permission to run a bus serv.ee from Frankton to the Waikato Hospital The chairman, Mr. J. A. C. \ Hum, presided, and had associated with him Messrs. K C. Blomfield and T. Hanna. On behalf of the applicant, Mr. iV S Johnson stated that his client was at present the holder of an authority to run a hospital service from Ham.lton to the Waikato Hospital. I here was no direct service from Frankton to the hospital. The Frankton Businessmen's Association had approached Dunn and asked him to run once a day at p m from Frankton with a return trip on Sundays only. Dunn agreed to run a service over the proposed route and proposed a fare of 4d a single trip Mr Allum stated he was not satislied regarding the fares, lhe applicant at present charged 4d single from Hamilton to the hospital a distance of 90 chains, and the authority had received several strong protests regarding the fares. Now he wanted to run a distance of nearly two miles for the same fare. The application was opposed by Buses, Limited, Frankton, and Mr. L<. A. Swarbriek stated that he was instructed bv the Hamilton Borough Council to' oppose any application by Dunn for new licences. Decision was reserved.
