MINISTER REFUSES GRANT [fkom oun own cohhespondknt] HAMILTON, Friday A request made to the Kducation Department by the Hamilton High School Board of Governors, for the payment of £250 to cover the rent of the bu used as a girls' hostel in Hamilton, has been declined. In a letter received by the hoard from the .Minister of Kducation, the Hon. S. G. Smith, to-day, the board was advised that, in view of the number of hostels available and not fully occupied, and in view also of the limited funds available for the erection of school buildings, it was regretted that it was not possible for him to set aside funds for a liostel at present. Neither was it possible to make a grant to cover the rent of the present building
