THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE government loans weaker There was further weakening in Government loans on the Auckland Stock Exchange on Saturday. Offers for 1940 and 1949 4 per cents were written down by ss, while the 1939-52 3$ per .cents also were reduced. General turnover was fair, and levels mainly were steady. A weaker tendency was evident in banks and the only issue to sell, New Zealands, lost 3d on sale at 50s 9d. In insurances, South British dropped 3d in dealing at 93s 6d, but other business was reported at 93s 9d. Standards sagged by Is over the past three weeks to sell at 725. New Zealands had weaker inquiry, but were more firmlv held. Coal shares remained firmly supported «nd sales at unchanged rates were made in Westports and the preference issue of Renowns. Dominion Breweries lost 9d in dealing at 16s 9d, but levels were fairly steady. Current-price business was done in other industrials.
