WEDDING
JONES—NEWTON A wedding of considerable interest took place at Tirau church on Tuesday, between Winifred Evelyn, elder daughter of Captain R. Newton, R.N., Okoroire, and Hector Douglas, second son of Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Jones, Auckland. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. P. Cleary, vicar of Putaruru. The church, which had boon tastefully decorated by friends of the bride, was filled with guests. The bride, who entered the church escorted •by her father, looked charming in a beautiful gown of white patterned lace, cut on simple straight lines. The neckline was finished with a bow of self-material held in place with a diamante clip, while the skirt fell into a grac€ful train. Her daintily embroidered veil was held in place with sprays of orange blossom, ana she carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and rosebuds. Three bridesmaids attended the bride. They were Miss Eileen Goodwin, Miss Connie Jones (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Faith Newton (sister of the bride). All wore particularly graceful frocks of green satin bdauto. The bodice of each was fashioned with cowl neckline, caught at either sido by diamante clasps, a continuation of the neckline falling over tho shoulders to form a cape effect. They wore tinted floral hairbands, and carried bouquets of bronze and cream chrysanthemums, with maidenhair fern tied with bronzo satin ribbon. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. Gordon Jones, as best man, and Mr. J. McKenzie as groomsman. Over 100 guests were entertained at tho reception afterwards held at the Okoroire Springs Hotel, where Mrs. J. McLaren, acting as hostess, received tho guests, wearing a very graceful ensemble of navy georgette with lace insets. With it she wore a hat of navy togel straw, trimmed with a white ostrich plume. Her bouquet consisted of bronze chrysanthemums. Tho bridegroom's mother, Mrs. H. K. Jones, wore an ensemble of maroon sil*, with black pin stripe and black hat with fur to tone. She carried a bouquet of autumntinted leaves and flowers. > Later Mr. and Mrs. Hector Jones left by car for the honeymoon, the bride wearing a smart, flecked tweed suit with fur trimmings, and a small Cossack hat of astrachnn, finished with a quill across the front.
