GUILDHALL RECEPTION
ROYAL FAMILY PRESENT DOMINION REPRESENTATIVES LONDON, May 22 The City of London held its own celebration of the Silver Jubilee this evening, when the Lord Mayor, Sir Stephen Killik, and the members of the Corporation, in full civic pomp, entertained 2000 guests in the reception hall at the Guildhall. , The reception was attended by the King and Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of York, the Duke of Gloucester, Indian Princes, Cabinet Ministers, diplomats, High Commissioners, and the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. G. W. Forbes, and Mrs. Forbes.
It was the first occasion for nearly a century on which the Sovereign was present in the evening in the Guildhall. Crowds lined ■ the route of the Royal drive.
The police, after some scuffling turned away a group of unemployed bearing banners protesting against expenditure while people were starving. Two distributors of propaganda were arrested. Mr. and Mrs. Forbes and Mrs. J. G. Coates, with a large party of New Zealanders, occupied the Royal box at Olympia. Mr. Forbes took the salute.
