No reason was given for this decision. • The men previously engaged on the drainage work have been dismissed. The majority were engaged under the No. o scheme. -The engineer in eharge of the works, Mr. C. V. Bosselman, will be leaving shortly on transfer. This" Main Highways Board has recently cleared, willows between Apotu ami Waiotu and this has allowed more water to flow at a greater rate. The machinery used for the drainago is still on the location, much of it being stored at Apotu.
