NOTABLE CATCH
VICE-REGAL ANGLERS THIRTY-NINE TROUT TAKEN GOOD TOTAL FOR THREE RODS t WINTRY WEATHER CONDITIONS [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] TURANGr, Thursday The condition of the Tongariro River was again unsuitable for fishing to-day owing to . rain, and the Vice-Regal party fished the Pouto River, where members repeated their success of yesterday. The total catch for three rods was -39 fish. The Governor-General, Viscount Gal way, took the limit of 15 fish, Viscountess Galway secured 11, and Sir Standish O'Grady Roche, naval aide-de-camp to the Governor-General, 13. The average weight of the total catch was approximately 4.Jlb. For the eighth day in succession rain fell again to-day. Heavy rain was experienced until 10 a.m., when it cleared slightly, and from then on there were showers at intervals. A cold southerly wind blew throughout the day, but this evening the barometer is rising and there are indications that the weather is clearing.
Their Excellencies left camp at nine o'clock this morning and did not return until six o'clock this evening. Although the weather has been unsuitable for fishing during their stay, it is considered that they have been more successful than any party that has visited the camp for some time. To-day's catch is probably a record for the district for three rods.
