RUGBY FOOTBALL

PROGRAMME FOR TO-MORROW OTAHUHU TO PLAY PONSONBY UNIVERSITY MEETS GRAFTON The decision of the Auckland Rugby Union to relegate three teams from the A grade to the B section of its senior championship at the end of the first round is hound to have the effect of moving all the nine teams at present in the top grade to renewed effort in order to avoid such relegation. The consequent result will be keener matches all round. The programme for Edc-n Park to-morrow afternoon is a particularly attractive one. The curtain-raiser will be between University and Grafton, and a fast, open game should result. Both teams have similar records to date, having had one win out of three matchw played. The succeeding game will be between the Otahuhu and Ponsonby fifteens. Otahuhu is the only undefeated team so far. nud it is very anxious to maintain its record. Its <lisplay against Grafton last week pleased patrons at headquarters im- i mensely, and in consequence the team is likely to prove an even bigger draw on this occasion. Ponsonby has had a win and a loss in its two matches to date. The win was a one over Grafton, last year's champion side, and It proved that Ponsonby is a team to be reckoned with. A eood game should result to-morrow afternoon. . Marist and Manukau will meet at Onehunga, where a close contest looks likely. After its defeat of Grammar last week Marist will be favourite. Patrons of the Show Grounds will have the privilege of seeing the Grammar and Technical Okl Boys' teams in action. Technical has not yet won a game, and will find it hard to dispose of Grammar to-morrow. College Rifles, which has a bye, will go to "Waiuku to play the country representatives.
