DAY FOR OUTSIDERS

IE RAPA SURPRISES many large dividends SOLAN! O'S STEEPLECHASE VICTORY FOR KING REY Outsiders had a remarkable run of success at Te Rapa yesterday, when the Te Kniti Racing Club's annual meeting '"•as opened in fine but; cold weather. Every win favourite was beaten, arid there were many large dividends. The first three winners, Kahapa, Chang and Calshot, each paid double figures on« the straight-out machine, and in the Otorohanga Hack Handicap Prince Acre eclipsed them all by returning a win dividend of nearly a third of a century, in addition to double'figures for a place. A spectacular contest in the principal event, the King Country Steeplechase, resulted in a victory for Sclanio, whose owner, .Mr. Craddock Dufty, was presented by Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, 11.P., with a silver tea service valued at £2O, attached to the stake. King Rey scored a good win in the President's Handicap, for which he was third favourite. Totalisator investments amounted to £13,094, compared with £15,060 on the first day hist year, a Saturday, a decrease of £1966. Results: —
