OLD RUGBY FOOTBALLER
DEATH OF MR. N. DAVEY [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Thursday The death has occurred of Mr. N. Davey, a former New Zoaland llugbv football representative and honorary librarian for the Wellington Commercial Travellers' Club, at the age of 87 years. A tribute to Mr. Davey s memory was paid by Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the management committee of the New Zealand Itvgby Union. Mr. Dean said Mr. Davey had been one of the stalwarts of the game, as secretary of the Wellington Rugby Union from 1883 to 3SS7, and as a representative player from 1887 until 18fi5. Ho was a member of the New Zealand team which toured Australia in 1884, and in that year he was 36 years of age, which showed that the Rugby players lasted longer in those days than they did to-day.
