MARKETS FOR CHEESE

STABILISATION MOVEMENT SCHEME TO BE PREPARED [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] PALMERSTON NORTH, Thursday With the idea of stabilising the local cheese markets a meeting of cheese company representatives in the Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay and Manawatu was held to-day. It was stated that the butter factories in the districts mentioned had formed a federation which had eliminated price cutting. Now the Dairy Board was endeavouring to frame a similar scheme to operate over the whole Dominion. The board, however, did not intend to deal in a similar manner with the cheese niarket in New Zealand at present, but it would appreciate any work in the desired direction that was accomplished by the cheese companies themselves.

A committee was appointed to propare a scheme.
