NORTHCOTE BOROUGH

NEW COUNCIL MEETS The members of the Northcote Borough Council last night made the formal declaration of office. The Mayor, Mr. R. Martin, presided. The waterworks engineer reported that 3,232,000 gallons of water had been used during April. At the end of the month the surface of Lake Pupuke was 6ft. below high tide mark, a fall of lin. Mr. E. C. Fowler pointed out that the Devonport Ferry Company had eliminated the 6d return fare on Sundays. It was decided to request that the concession should be restored, to apply to Sundays and holidays. The installation of the Mayor will take place to-night.
