KEEN FOR TRADE
SWEDEN AND BELGIUM AUSTRALIAN INTERESTS LONDON. May 4 " Business men in Sweden and Belgium know more about Australian conditions than we do about theirs," said the Premier of South Australia, Mr. R. L. Butler, on his return to-day from a visit to those countries. Sweden and Denmark, he said, were anxious to buy from Australia, and he was convinced that Australia could do more business with Belgium. Sweden did not oppose first preference being given to Britain, but urged that many of her exports to Australia were prejudicially taxed. The Swedish authorities had promised to investigate the duties on canned fruits, which at present penalised the Australian product. There were good prospects, Mr. Butler said, of both Sweden and Belgium increasing their purchases of Australian wines.
