CARLTON CROQUET

The closing for the season of the Carlton Croquet Club on Saturday proved to be a particularly happy day. It was also the occasion for celebrating the silver jubilee of four of the pioneer members.—Mesdames Perry, Laurie, Cahill and Wilson. The jubilee cake with its twenty-five candles, was a very attractive centrepiece for the tables The cake was cut by the four guests of honour and also little Judy Ann, the four-year-old grand-daughter of Mrs. Perry. During afternoon tea Mrs. Hamilton presented the four guests with initialed serviette rings as a small token from the members of the club. Each member in responding, spoke of the very happy associations they had had in connection with the club. One of the pioneer members present was Mrs. Wright, first secretary ol the club.. On the proposal of Mrs. Perry, Mrs. Laurie was made a life member. This was carried bv acclamation and musical honours. Mrs. Perrv presented Mrs. Hamilton with a handsome crystal ilower vase on behalf of the members of the club. Progressive croquet was played, the winners being Mrs Baker 1, Mrs. E. W. Wilson 2, Mrs. Petrie hidden number.
