PARISHIONERS' MEETINGS

ST. GEORGE'S, PAPATOETOE STEADY PROGRESS REPORTED A year of steady progress was reported at the annual meeting of St. George's Anglican Church, Papatoetoe. The vicar, the Rev. H. H. Bedford, presided over a large attendance of parishioners. In the report presented by the vicar's warden it was stated that the number of communicants and general congregation had substantially increased during the past year. The treasurer's report stated that although there had been an increase in the general offerings it would be necessary to raise at least another £IOO if the finances of the parish were to be established on a sound footing. A motion of sympathy with the widow and relatives of the late Mr. R. E. Smith was carried by the congregation standing in silence. Appreciation was also expressed of the services rendered by Mr. Smith as a member of the vestry and in other church activities. The following officers were appointed:—Synod representative, Mr. H. M. Didsbury; vicar's warden, Mr. W. J. Nicholson; parish warden, Mr. It. Smith; vestry, Messrs. Allport, Burrow, Burnside, Cutforth, Didsbury, Hadlow, Jepson, Page, Sibley and White.
