0* i WOtKEIiS' TICKET PKICES ( , ■ NORTH SHORE REDUCTIONS SIGHTSEEING TOUR LICENCES E enewals of a large number of passenger service licences were considered by the No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority yesterday. Mr. J. A. C. Alluni 'presided, and associated with him -were Mr. E. C. Blomlield and Mr. T. Banna. Minor alterations were sought in many cases and a considerable number of applications were opposed on behalf of operators of other services. In a number of cases where decision was. deferred, the purpose was to allow a conference between the parties concerned, in the hope that an agreement would be reached. Several amendments involving reductions in fares were included in six applications for renewals of licences by the' North Shore Transport Company, Limited (Mr. Hubble), all of which were granted. Reductions in workers' weekly tickets were as follows, one terminus being Auckland in each case: —Castor Bay, 7s 5d to 6s 3d; Milford, 6s 5d to 5s 6d; Anzac Street or Northcoto Street, 5s lid to 5s 3d; Hauraki Road, 5s 5d to ss; Belmont and Lake Road, 4s 5d to 4s. It was stated that the riiatter of reductions in apprenticeship tickets was receiving consideration. Provision was included in the amendments for the tickets to be available from Mondays to Sundays, both days inclusive. Sunday Tickets In Summer Another amendment provided for the issue of return Sunday tickets between Auckland and Milford during the summer at Is 3d, a reduction of 4d. Mr. J. Gumiven, Mayor of Takapuna, said the reductions would be greatly appreciated in his borough. An unusual position was revealed in connection with applications from the Auckland Bus Company, Limited (Mr. Vialoux'l, J. Rimmer (Mr. Haig) and H. A. Johnston (Mr. Mackay) for renewals of Auckland-Titirangi licences for sightseeing trips. A previous decision permitted each operator to run for a week in turn, and authorised the parties to cooperate. Mr. Haig argued that this provision was contrary to the Act. .An arrangement between Johnston and the Auckland Bus Company allowed him to take the company's week's running as well as his own, so that he ran two weeks to Rimmer's one. Counsel suggested it was a unique position that a company "could have a licence it did not operate from one year's end to the other^ Mr. Allum said that the authority could not consider past actions of applicants, Each request for renewal was a new application, the point for consideration being what was undertaken for the future. However, the claim might'be made that the operator and no other 1 could operate a service. Mr. Mackay submitted, that the authority's previous ruling had been the result of an appeal decision, and the applications were adjourned until to-morrow to allow authority to bo produced. Mr. Haig expressed the intention of producing evidence regarding the result of the arrangement between the two operators, but it was pointed out by Mr. Blomfield that such evidence might not be permissible. ' Unsuccessful Objection

Objection tp an application for a passenger licence between Glen Eden-Nihotupu-Dreantlands by H. Lloyd (Mr. Bawden)was made by J. Rimmer (Mr. Haig), on the grounds that his service operated over all but the last mile of the route and the remainder was adequately served by the taxi service already operated by the applicant. Mr. Bawden stated that applicant had operated a mail contract for many years over the route and sought the licence for only three days a week in summer and twice in winter, when he was making the mail delivery. The application was granted. Renewals of passenger licences were granted in the following cases: —Auckland Bus Company, Limited, AucklandNew Lynn, Oratia, Glen Eden, Henderson Valley, Te Atatu and Titirangi; J. Rimmer. Auckland-Piha; J. H. Moss, Riverhead-Auckland; E. D. C. I' Ihara, Auckland-Kare Kare; E« Hopper, Whangaparaoa-Auckland; Ingham and Donahoe, Albany-Birkenhead; Birkenhead Transport, Limited, Birkenheadfßeachhaven and Pupuke Road; Waitemata Bus and Transport Company, Limited, Northcote-Birkenhead and Northcote-Milford; Cheltenham Bus Company, Devonport-Vauxhall; A. B. Bearsley, Devon port-Stan ley Point. In the following cases decision was deferred: —Robinson's Motors, Limited, Auckland-Helensville; A. Burr, Auck-land-Hnapai; Auckland Bus Company, Limited, Auckland-Henderson-Hobson-ville; li». J. McQuoid, Auckland-Titi-rangi and Laingholm; 0. Tate, Auck-land-Waiwera.
