POULTRY INDUSTRY
PRODUCERS' ORGANISATION MINISTER PROMISES SUPPORT [BY TELF.GRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] , TATTRANGA, Friday During the week well-attended meetings of persons interested in the poultry industry were held at Apata and Bethlehem. The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, in the course of an address at Apata, reviewed the steps leading up to the passing of the Poultry Runs Restriction Act. "On behalf of the large army of poultrykeepers, and more especially on behalf of the many hard-working farmers' wives and others to whom a few pounds extra per annum is a great consideration," said the Minister, "I urge you to get behind the Poultry Board in its strenuous efforts to improve the conditions under which the industry is being conducted at present. You can rest assured of support from myself and the Department of Agriculture to all reasonable requests from the industry." At Apata it was.decided to form a branch of the Poultry Producers' Federation to be known as the Katikati branch. A committee comprising Mrs. Moulden, Miss Hill (secretary) and Messrs. Emmerton, G. Putt and G. F. Williams (chairman), was appointed. It was resolved at Bethlehem to establish a branch to be known as the Tauranga branch with a committee comprising Mr. W. G. Sim (chairman), M iss M. W. Stewart (secretary and treasurer), Mrs. Meharry and Mr. G< Tebbs.
