OLD CEMETERY LOCATED
DISCOVERY IN WELLINGTON [B'C TELEO.RAI>H —PRESS ASSOCIATION "1 WELLINGTON, Friday While engaged in sinking a trench for drainage purposes in front of the old Borough Council Chambers at Karori, Wellington, workmen encountered parts of the remains of three human bodies, but there was no means of establishing identity. The discovery was not altogether unexpected as it was known that an old cemetery was in the vicinity, although its precise location, as well as the identity of the majority of persons interred there and the number of graves were unknown.
Permission for operations had been given by the Health Department on condition that if any remains were found they would be exhumed by the city sexton and reburied in the Karori cemetery. Inquiries indicate that the remains disturbed were of persons who were probably among the very earliest of settlers in the district,.
