THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL

DEPARTURE FOR THE NORTH

The Governor-General, Lord Bledploe, and Lady Bledisloe, who arrived in Auckland from Wellington by'the limited express yesterday, left at 10 a.m. in the Government steamer Matai for Russell. They were fareweDed by Mr. T. B. Clay, "chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, and Captain H. H. Sergeant, harbourmaster.

Their Excellencies will aceompany the Duke of Gloucester on an inspection of, the Waitangi estate, and will bid farewell to His Royal Highness on Toesday. It is expected that the Matai will return to Auckland on Friday.
